Allergic reaction.
Allergic reactions range from a rash to life-threatening anaphylaxis. We treat mild reactions and refer for allergy testing when episodes are recurrent.
Quick answer
Mild-to-moderate allergic reactions (hives, itching, mild swelling) are treated with antihistamines and steroids at urgent care. Anaphylaxis (throat swelling, breathing trouble) requires 911.

How we treat
At Quick Urgent Care
- Oral or IV antihistamines
- Oral steroids
- Epinephrine when severe (as a bridge to ER care)
- Allergy testing referral
Go to the ER if
Emergency signs
- ! Throat swelling or difficulty swallowing
- ! Severe difficulty breathing
- ! Widespread hives with fainting
- ! Anaphylaxis (call 911)
